Announcing The Auricular 5th Anniversary Celebration!

 In News

In 2018, I launched The Auricular as a dedicated platform for showcasing the vibrant and diverse music scene here in Richmond, VA. The intention behind its creation was to bring attention not only to the well-known rock heavyweights and buzzworthy hip-hop stars but also to shed light on the often-overlooked electronic artists and instrumental virtuosos who contribute to the city’s musical landscape. It’s been a wild journey since with successes and challenges all along the way, but looking back, it’s been a privilege to be able to help spread the word about all of the talented artists who make this city such an amazing musical hub.

To commemorate five years in existence, The Auricular will be hosting an anniversary celebration concert at Richmond Music Hall on Saturday, September 23rd with four spectacular local bands:

Rikki Rakki
Strawberry Moon

I’ve written plenty about these bands in the past, but their musical accomplishments speak for themselves with a remarkable catalog of records and innumerable unforgettable performances that makes this line-up truly special.

Doors will open at 7 PM with the show beginning at 8 PM. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door, and if that killer line-up and low ticket price aren’t enough to get you in the door, here’s one more surprise: each person in attendance will get a copy of The Richmond Sound: 2018-2023, a limited edition compilation featuring some of the best songs from Virginia’s capital, from punk and R&B to electronica and ambient. More details to follow on that compilation as we get closer to that date.

Tickets are on sale now for this concert, which you can purchase by clicking this link. There will be more to come as we approach our five-year anniversary with some special interviews and retrospectives, but until then, make plans to join The Auricular on Saturday, September 23rd at Richmond Music Hall for an unforgettable musical night.
