Ant The Symbol & Erin Lunsford Recruit & Delight On The New Video For “Silver, Gold And Cream”

 In News

Collaboration is the key to the Richmond’s musical success, a fact on full display in the latest video for “Silver, Gold and Cream” by Ant The Symbol and Erin Lunsford. Filmed at The Camel by the team behind HearRVA, the video pulls in a bevy of local talents to enhance and elevate the track, and hopefully catch the eye of NPR for their Tiny Desk series. Fingers crossed!

There’s a lot to unpack here, including a laundry list of local talents, but first we have to talk about the music. Ant The Symbol has always attached himself to exciting sounds and beats in town, but this collab with singer Erin Lunsford seems to mark something new for the producer. Deeply soulful and precisely layered, this track is dreamy while also still being outright fun. Call-and-response sections add to the cheer while the exceptionally tight rhythm section steers the song around its many memorable sections.

As for sheer talent, this track is overflowing. Joining Ant The Symbol and Erin Lunsford are Deau Eyes (backing vocals), Sam Reed (backing vocals), Charles Owens (saxophone), Stephen Roach (keys), Gabe Santamaria (bass), Kofi Shepsu (drums), and Jackson Shurlds (guitar), each of whom add something unique and special to the track. That’s a lot of names, but as the HearRVA cameras pan around, nothing feels crowded or excessive. It all fits together perfectly to present one unified track that will just blow you away.

In other related news, Erin Lunsford and Deau Eyes were both just included on the 2023 Short List for the Newlin Music Prize for their respective albums Touchy Feely and Legacies. Ant The Symbol himself was part of the 2022 Short List as an artist for his album Ant Hasn’t Heard Of You, Either, and also as a producer on Giant’s album Big Talk.
