Belly Of The Heart Display Moral Decay Through Felt Surrealism On “Frozo”

 In News

Oh, the tangled webs humanity weaves. Oh, the strange, strange ways we choose to display those entanglements. The latest example arrives in “Frozo,” a delightful musical dalliance from electronic trio Belly Of The Heart that’s accompanied by a memorably bizarre visual interpretation.

Twin Peaks meets Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared in this surreal music video that explores the tangled lives of Frozo, Dibra, Hugo, and Boyle in a sardonic fable of corruptive carnal desire. Directed by Colin Earner, the video is wonderfully outlandish, extending far beyond the central felt deformity presented as an object of desire. Emotional manipulation and an agent of chaos add to the fervor, revealing the human touch as the true corrosive element. At the same time, the video’s opening and closing scenes, framed as seemingly innocent thirst traps, underscore the contrast between innocence and temptation.

Musically, the song shuffles around an echoing room of whimsical curiosity and rhythmic intrigue. While it doesn’t quite reach the surreal heights of the video, the song rewards careful listening with an abundance of musical flourishes that contribute to its intoxicating aura. Capped off by a smooth sax solo, the song flaunts a flawless blend of styles that reveals the kind of inventive design one expects and craves from top-tier electronica.

“Frozo” is the lead single off of Subatomic Angel, the third record from Belly Of The Heart that once again charts a new electronic path to explore with impish finesse. Whereas Leech!, the band’s celebrated previous record, reveled in heightened mania, Subatomic Angel relaxes into downtempo soundscapes that let the band relish atmospheres imbued with their endlessly fascinating, chimerical charm. The result is a fifteen-track collection that may be the band’s finest work yet, an album that definitely deserves a place on your record shelf.
